Paula M. Keith, Ph.D. joined ImmunoBiosciences, Inc. as V.P. Business Development in Janurary 2008. Dr.Keith is a microbiologist who brings to the firm over 25 years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry principally in the areas of process development, manufacture of clinical supplies to support new product registration, and strategic planning for novel human and veterinary vaccine candidates. She has extensive business development experience in technology evaluation, licensing intellectual property, negotiating strategic alliances, and acquisition of new product opportunities.

Most recently, she served as V.P. of Development at AlphaVax Human Vaccines where she was responsible for development of program plans for a novel viral vector vaccine system, including manufacturing strategy, portfolio planning, execution of critical path milestones and presentations to potential investors and corporate partners. She successfully directed their first vaccine from “mice to man”, preparing the FDA submission that resulted in first-in-man safety data, a major milestone in attracting financing and partnering opportunities with global vaccine manufacturers.

Prior to this experience, Dr. Keith was the Director of Bacterial Vaccine Development at Wyeth-Lederle Vaccines. There, she led a team of professionals in the GMP production and QC testing of clinical supplies to support FDA licensure of Prevnar®, a billion dollar vaccine that prevents bacterial pneumonia in infants. As Director of Program Management & Licensing, she was responsible for managing global third party relationships including co-development programs, cooperative research agreements and contract manufacturing.

Dr.Keith also held positions of increasing responsibility in several areas of vaccine and pharmaceutical process development at Pitman-Moore, the veterinary division of Mallinckrodt Medical. There, she was responsible for R&D activities of several recombinant protein products including sub-unit vaccines and therapeutic proteins. She also chaired the company’s new product committee, conducting due diligence on potential licensing and acquisition candidates.

Dr.Keith holds a Ph.D. in microbiology from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. and an M.S. in microbiology from West Virginia University.
