SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD Dr.
Catherine A. Ricks served as Vice President of Research and Development
at Embrex, an Agricultural Biotechnology company, from 1989 - 2006.
As a key member of the senior management team, she developed and implemented
corporate strategy to commercialize in ovo technology. Dr Ricks built,
organized, and directed a multidisciplinary R&D organization to
develop innovative in ovo delivery, diagnostic systems and in ovo biological
products for the global poultry industry; collective senior management
team efforts resulting in a paradigm shift in poultry hatchery production
with in ovo vaccination technology adopted by 85% of the US; with 40%
adoption worldwide. From 1979 to 1989, she served in various scientific
management positions including Manager, Animal Industry Discovery American
Cyanamid building the first biotechnology effort at the company. Dr
Ricks served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Poultry Science
at North Carolina State University [NCSU] from 1980 - 2005 and as an
Adjunct Professor in the Department of Animal Science at Rutgers University
from 1985 - 1990. She is the author of 33 scientific publications, 14
published symposia proceedings, 75 abstracts, an inventor on 4 patents
and the recipient of the YWCA award for achievement in business. She
served on the NCSU graduate advisory board 1995 - 2000, and currently
serves on multiple boards including the Poultry Science Association
Board 2003 - 2006 and Poultry Science Foundation Board. Dr Ricks obtained
her Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry, Dairy Science from Michigan State
University, her M. Phil Plant Physiology and B.Sc. in botany from King's
College, London University.
